ISAIAH 5 8-30

Isaiah 5 8: "woe unto them that join house to house lay field to field till there be no place that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth"

This passage condemns corporations.

Corporations are inherently sinful because in order for one to expand, somebody else has to loose. As this passage says, the goal of any corporation is ultimately to push every other corporation out of existence.

This was what happened in the late 80s to the farmers. They bought up the farms of neighbours who were getting older and whose children had moved away. However, this caused the farmers to go from prospering to being in debt and eventually, when the bad times came and the farmers couldn't pay their debts, the banks foreclosed. The farmers broke the commandment this verse is talking about.

Isaiah 5 13: "therefore my people are gone into captivity because no knowledge and their honourable men famished and their multitude dried up with thirst"

This verse is echoed by Hosea when he says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

Today, Christians lack so much knowledge, from knowledge of historical events, to knowledge about the meanings of words, to knowledge about current events, to knowledge about nature. This keeps them from understanding the things of God and properly serving Him.

Isaiah 5 14: "therefore Hell hath enlarged herself and opened her mouth without measure and their glory and their multitude and their pomp and he that rejoiceth shall descend into it"

It is just so striking to me that God has to make Hell bigger because so many people are going there. (By the way, if Hell "enlarges" herself and has a "mouth", how can it be a temporary event at the end of time as the Seventh Day Adventists say?)

Isaiah 8 15: "and the mean man shall be brought down and the mighty man shall be humbled and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled"

We've all known someone who was just plain mean. Well, this verse says you're going to be brought down into Hell, mean man.

Isaiah 5 21: "woe unto wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight"

There is so much arrogance of this kind in the church today.

Isaiah 5 23: "which justify the wicked for reward and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him"

The thinking of so many Christians has gotten so perverted these days. For example, a preacher will say we should love some murderer or some pedophile and when you point out that criminal should get the death penalty as the Bible says, the preacher will bite your head off because you aren't "showing the love of Christ" or whatever.
